Describe your most challenging moments in this class. How did you use growth mindset ideas to work through the challenges? Give 2-3 well-developed examples with specific supporting details. Reflecting on your experiences, how do you perceive writing in English now?  One of the biggest challenges this semester was dealing with my personal life while trying to keep up with school. I went through a tough emotional time, and it made it hard for me to stay focused. At the same time, I had to work part-time to support myself, so I often felt tired and stressed. There were moments when I wanted to give up. But during that time, my teacher encouraged me to focus on things I can control. That really stayed with me. It reminded me that even if I couldn’t control everything happening in my life, I could still choose how I respond. Paper 3 first draft Paper 3 final draft Reflection When I wrote the first draft of Paper 3, I didn't realize that my paper focused more on the benefits of immigration for immigrants, not for the U.S. I was confused about the prompt's quesiton, so I asked Professor Lee for help. She explained clearly and suggest me to focus on how immigration benefits the country. For example,  I can rewrite immigration as a continuation of the American Dream. This helped me understand the topic more deeply and gave me a clear direction to revise my paper. One important thing I learned is that fully understanding the prompt is very important. It helps me stay on topic and write a stronger, clearer essay.

After reading the feedback, I realized that my argument needed to be stronger and more personal. In the final draft, I improved my thesis, added clearer examples, and even shared a real story about my friend. I also corrected some grammar and sentence structure problems. Through this writing process, I learned how to organize my ideas better and how to combine facts with personal experience. One important lesson I learned is that writing takes time, and I can always make it better by revising and listening to feedback.

After reading the teacher’s feedback, I realized I needed to add more support from the readings. In the final draft, I added quotes from The Distance Between Us and A Brief History of Immigration in the United States , which made my writing stronger. I also worked on improving my organization and topic sentences. This writing process taught me that good writing needs revision and clear structure. I also learned that using both personal experience and class sources can make my ideas more powerful.

5. Office Hours/Student Hours

 I visited Professor Lee during her office hours because I wanted to revise my Paper 3. I was confused about her comment on my thesis. I didn’t realize that my paper focused more on the benefits of immigration for immigrants, but the prompt asked us to write about the benefits for the U.S. Professor Lee explained that clearly and helped me understand the difference. She suggested that I change my thesis to focus on immigration as a continuation of the American Dream. This would make my paper more focused on how immigration helps the U.S. This meeting helped me see my mistake and gave me a clear direction to revise my paper.
